The big change will likely be the inclusion of a discrete graphics card in the unit so it's able to support more resource-heavy tasks like photo editing or maybe even gaming. Martin HajekĪpple's also expected to update its desktop iMac along with a 5K external display that will replace the Thunderbolt displays Apple discontinued earlier this year. These new hardware components could enable more features in MacOS itself, though would likely be reserved only for Apple's latest Macbooks. Japanese site Macotakara also reports that these 13-inch and 15-inch laptops will only come with USB Type-C, ditching USB 2.0 and 3.0 altogether, and won't charge via MagSafe connector. In addition to this keyboard overhaul will be other more predictable upgrades, including (hopefully) a much more powerful processor in the form of Intel's latest and greatest chip, Skylake. The big one is an OLED panel along the top of the keyboard, as rumored by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, which would replace the physical function keys that have been on the Macbook since 2012-the last time the lineup received a significant design change. Kuo also says these Macbook Pros will come with Touch ID. And since so much time has past since Apple last updated its laptop workhorse, it's probably coming with some pretty big changes.
